A Prophet

1

Quite simply the best prison movie in the last 10 years since America History X. A mark of a good film is the effect it has on you after you watched it, some films you enjoy but you forgotten all about it the next day. I think this movie will occupy my mind. The acting is the best you going to see, I think Tahar Rahim and the combination of his acting with Niels Arestrup is probably the best performances in movies recently. Story line is gripping and the tension is unbearable at times, you feel the misery, hope and desperation with all the characters and live the story for the 2 and half hours its on. Its well directed and a very deep storyline, something Hollywood is really short of at the moment, Jacques Audiard has a fan for life with me now. A must see.

Life imitated art when I walked out of this film and two boys on a motorbike screeched past me on the pavement, having just tried to smash in the window of a high street opticians .. Great film.

Yes, Hollywood writers seem to be lacking imagination, inspiration or any true creativity. Which is not surprising when you think about the fact that the people in general are more consumed with fear than ever before. And fear destroys creativity and restricts our intelligence...in fact it makes us quite stupid and certainly does not create the right head space for new, exciting and revolutionary ideas. I am a writer of sorts and have wonderful ideas for many movies, but it is not my "thing", hence I never put in the effort to develop such projects. For me I would like to see movies that start to explore the reality of the world today and an exciting journey into the possibilities that we could all evolve into as more compassionate beings. It's interesting, but without compassion then there is no way we can expand our creativity and make, amongst other things, good movies. Compassion is fears enemy....so lets all get more compassionate and we will reap the benefits in ways that humans have yet to share or even imagine. I would love more people to check out my blog site @ http://davidgcoles.wordpress.com/ and maybe I could even inspire a movie writer as I am happy for anything I create to be shared and used to inspire others.

Anyway, this is my first response to one of your blogs but I do enjoy the interesting stuff you come up with. Thanks,

David Coles.
