Nederland is singular, so it would be Lowland, although in German it is plural.

This always bugged me: Iceland is covered with greens, though Gronland (a.k.a. Green Land) is mostly covered with ice.

Moldova is definitely not the "river land".
The etymology of the name is unclear. The legend says it comes from "Molda", the name of the dog of the first prince of the country.

Ukraine would be proper.ly translated as Inland, not borderland.
