Giant Origami Tigers Pounce Sydney
According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2010 is the "Year of the Tiger" and begins on February 14, 2010. A sign of courage, the Tiger is a fearless and fiery fighter that is revered by the ancient Chinese. The beast wards off the three main disasters of a household: fire, thieves and ghosts.
Designed by Australian firm LAVA, these gigantic origami tigers were made to raise awareness of the endangered species. They are powered by low-power LEDs and constructed out of aluminum, as well as Barrisol skin. They are 8.2 feet high, 23 feet long, and weigh 441 lbs.
