The Beach is definitely worth second watch

Today I was at the cinema for watching Up in The Air and in the break time I saw the fragments of The Beach and I decided to watch this film again at home...

The beach is a great adaptation of the novel. It genuinely captures the naturalistic themes expressed by Garland. It also incredibly captures the feel of the generation it appeals to, the late-teens/early-twenties crowd.

This film is definitely worth your time. The setting, cinematography, and action is amazing! The soundtrack is great too.Watch it again!

I love this blog. Movie opinions, not so much. Different folks for different strokes.

I only saw this movie for the first time a year or so ago. It is absolutely fantastic. I didn't realize the story would be woven so well and that obscure life those people had was really interesting. They tried so hard to be different...yet faced the same interpersonal relationship challenges.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a massive fan of Danny Boyle and Mr DiCaprio, and this movie is definitely shot in a beautiful way - the sheer breathtaking beauty of the surroundings are enough to captivate any audience... But calling it a "great adaptation", i think, is way, way, way off mark... i know its an "adaptation" but the movie fails to include a whole, integral character to the plot of the novel: Jed.

For me, this character really made the book, highlighted the complexities all of all the islanders faced and illustrated the differences between Richard and the others. The whole rice run in the movie, between Richard and Sal, doesn't even happen in the book - its between Jed and Richard, and his absence from the movie just completely flaws it for me. Sorry.

Maybe I'm wrong...
